Sometimes live music means packing up the car and heading to the big city for a headliner act. We love doing that, but it can be a little stressful… finding parking, making sure you have your tailgate ready to go, and that isn’t even before you’ve considered the skyrocketing prices of tickets, as well as the fees on top of fees!

We have a solution to all of this. It involves simply getting in the car and driving to West Sandy Creek Winery in Richards, Texas. West Sandy Creek Winery offers memorable scenery with a view of the Sam Houston National Forest, award-winning Texas wines, warm hospitality, delicious food, and even friendly animals. West Sandy Creek’s steady lineup of established and up-and-coming musicians is also the perfect one-stop shop for live music. You can even schedule a weekend trip to see two performances while you spend the night in one of the winery’s cabins!

West Sandy Creek Winery is conveniently located in southeast Texas, just 40 minutes from Conroe, a shade under an hour from College Station, an hour from The Woodlands, and 90 minutes from Houston. This means a quick drive to a spot where the parking is easy, the food and libations are part of the experience, the music is casual, and the vibe is lively and welcoming.

West Sandy Creek Winery features live music on Saturdays from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Sundays from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m., with special after-hours music events sprinkled in for good measure. In the first quarter of 2025, West Sandy Creek Winery will welcome familiar voices Kyle Mathis, Justin Cole, Byron Haynie, Kimberly M’Carver, and Guthrie Jones to the Saturday and Sunday lineup, as well as more recent additions to the lineup such as Mia Zullo and Krista Gene. Frank Martin Gilligan and Joe Gavito will join in the fun for a special extended-hours event on February 16 as well, with premium seating and buffet options available for pre-purchase.

The artists come from a variety of musical backgrounds and influences, including blues, rock, country, and soul. The performances, an amalgam of original and live music, weave among different genres. There’s a reason the performers keep returning to the West Sandy Creek Winery stage: the venue is breathtaking and the audiences are vibrant and responsive.

Worried about what to do with the kids? West Sandy Creek Winery welcomes families, and it’s always acceptable for you to bring your own food for the family. If you’re not in the mood for that, West Sandy Creek Winery offers tapas plates as well as scheduled visits from locally legendary food trucks that coincide with many Saturday performances. Plus, kids of all ages will love seeing animals that include donkeys, cows, chickens, goats, a zebronkey (zebra/donkey hybrid), horses, and cats.

If you’re visiting the winery with a larger party, particularly on a day featuring live music, a reservation is recommended to ensure the best possible seating arrangements.
